Wednesday Word: Hypnagogic

Hypnagogic - adjective. This word describes one's state of consciousness right before falling asleep.

I learned about this nifty word because for years I experienced hypnagogic hallucinations and finally Googled it not too long ago. Apparently it is completely normal to hear sounds or voices while drifting off to sleep.

Hypnopompia is the oppose - the state leading to wakefulness.
