Wednesday Word: Steganography

Steganography - not to be confused with stenography, steganography is the centuries old practice of hiding a message within another message or object. An example would be a scarf with Morse code in it.

Bonus trivia: If you love codes, puzzles and spycraft, you probably have come across steganography. While I was aware of the concept, I only recently realized how close it came to home when I discovered my laser printer could spy on me. I had printed out some line art, coloured it and scanned it back in. When I went to clean up the drawings, yellow dots were e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. So annoying! In reality, it was machine identification code at work.
