Gon·gooz·ler (gahng-guz-lêr):
origin: (1904) Lincolnshire dialect; "gawn" & "gooze" = stare, gape

[slang] an idle spectator; someone who "gongoozles": watches boats go by (particularly canals) or watches things without participating. Like "trainspotting", it's a hobby that can extend to all aspects of canals.
