benefic ( be – NE – fik ) adj. Latin. having or exerting a favorable influence.

A form of beneficent, benefic entered the language of its own accord in 1641. It's from two words, "bene" meaning "good," and "facere" which means "to do." There are many forms of this in English, beneficial, beneficiary, benefit - well, you get the idea.
